Apr. 9th, 2021 10:41 am Helmut Zemo was both used to getting what he wanted and knowing when he wasn't going to get the thing he wanted without respect and work. His feelings for James Barnes we a good example of this. He wanted the other man, had since they'd first "met" but he'd been consumed by his grief and rage and hadn't really had time to think about his wants. Six years in prison had given him time to think more and the want grew. So when James returned and broke him out, Helmut decided to see if he could slowly get what he wanted.
It took time and a lot of give to earn the small amount of trust he had received and while most people might have gone insane with the waiting, Zemo was good at playing the long game. Though tonight he was feeling a bit less like waiting. He assumes it's the adrenaline from the fight, he isn't sure, but he knows he wants more than he's ever wanted before.
